I was happily watching a property programme; a couple had bought an unloved terrace cottage at auction.  The hostess of the show was discussing the poor state of the doors and windows in the property and asked what improvements were they planning.  In fact the plans were quite minimal;  just get the place clean and tidy – spend no more than a few pounds here and there and then rent it out for the big bucks.  The hostess was horrified because there did seem to be rather a lot wrong with it.    The windows and doors were seriously worn out – cracked and chipped framework meant the security was nil.  The double glazing was pretty old and there was condensation on almost every panel.  When we visited the site later on in the show, the transformation was incredible.  The doors had been replaced with composite material to match the garage and the replacement windows looked so smart, yet not obviously brand new – it all fitted so well.  Supplied by a truly professional company who could see the value in keeping a cottage looking like a cottage.
