This being the quiet winter time ofyear means lots of walking around the country villages so familiar to me, a pastime I adore.  It is even better once the christmas period is upon us and there are festive lights up everywhere.  It gives families an excuse to having trees illuminated in front  their front windows and some of the effects are truly stunning.  I particularly like being able to see inside the rooms – something we’re not generally party to as most families close up their curtains as soon as the light begins to withdraw.  Christmas is a different matter and we are treated to views of much more than just a festive tree or two.  I am always interested in the look of any replacement windows, unless there is a truly compelling reason for changing, like unexpected rot setting in, I cannot imagine taking out my beautiful 5 star sealed double glazed windows.  They are so stylish and one of the reasons we chose our particular house.   I love the elegant rectangular lead panes. Had we had the one next door, I would not have liked the design of their window units as they are diamond shaped lead panes.  Quite common!
