I had the uncomfortable problem of being stuck in my house and not able to get out for a short period last week.  My back door had suddely jammed shut – the framework had warped in the strangely volatile weather we’ve had.  Firstly it was freezing and snoy, then we had acres of rain followed by extreme heat.  Then back to constant rain and mellow humid days and nights.  Now we have violent and heavy rain storms again.   So the poor old wooden frames have no idea what’s hit them.  A certain amount of expansion and contraction is allowed for in their design but these few months have been nothing like the norm.  Wood does move and expand with damp and heat so this movement should not have been a problem.  I feel that a totally new replacement back door with upvc framework is possible the best way forward and I am currently seekng the very same.  My supplier will see me right and it will of course look fantastic!
